RUTH BADER GINSBURG

* Aged 85

* Second daughter of Celia and Nathan 

* Nathan was a Jewish emigrant from Odessa, Ukraine 

* Became the second female Supreme Court justice ever. She still holds to position today and uses her position to advocate for women's rights 

* Co-founded the Women's Rights Law Reporter in 1970, which was the first U.S. law journal to focus exclusively on women's rights

* Co-founded the Women's Rights Project at the ACLU in 1972

* Was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame in 2002

* Received the American Bar Association's highest honor, the ABA medal, in 2010

* In 2013, became the first Supreme Court justice to officiate at a same-sex marriage ceremony

* Because it's our duty to pay homage to the women that have paved the path we are now walking on as well as to those that are taking the path to new places.
